Was 2007 a year of prosperity for you? Did you achieve the goals you set out to accomplish? Was it just another year of dead ends?
Each of us has good years and bad years in this online business world. We pursue things and they either work out or they don’t. Often they don’t.
It’s easy to get a distorted view of internet marketing when you encounter setbacks. So let’s take a look at what the reality of the situation.
There has been no better time to get started with an online business than today. Yes, there were the ‘good ole days’ where everyone made a fortune and didn’t do much to make it.
Nonsense. The payment processing and autoresponder tools we have today, coupled with the awareness of internet marketing as a viable business opportunity FAR exceed the good ole days.
Back then (whenever that time was) there were a lot fewer potential customers. Let’s face it, more and more people are joining the internet each week. Yes, there are more marketers. There are also many more people in the market.
“Everyone says ebooks are dead.”
That’s news to me. Everyone has ebooks. Amazon, Barnes & Nobles, everyone. If they’re dead why are they all over the internet? I never have understood the faulty logic in this thinking.
Is everyone selling burgers these days? Yes. Is it a thriving business? Yes. But everyone is selling ebooks so it isn’t a thriving business? HUH?
What IS happening is that a natural weeding process is taking place. People are no longer buying an ebook just because it’s a novelty. They used to make purchases just because an electronic book was new. Now it’s a common media so they’ve started buying GOOD WRITING and GOOD INFORMATION. Big shock.
Anyone can write something with a free word processor, compile it into a PDF file with a free PDF tool and sell it for any amount. The cost of entry in the IM field is very low and as a result anyone can toss their hat in the ring.
You don’t even have to type it anymore. You can get a program that translates speech to text or hire a ghost writer.
With all the big promises unscrupulous marketers make it’s no wonder people have become a little jaded regarding ebooks. It’s hard to know who to trust in a country where 70% of the people see lying as acceptable.
Offer quality information at a decent price. Don’t hype your product or make promises you don’t keep. Practice good business techniques like being polite in a crude world. Be cheerful when providing a refund (even if you’re being cheated). You’ll find your online business soaring in no time at all.
