I don’t know about the rest of you but I woke up this morning and found myself face to face with a brand new year.
Ah, New Year’s resolutions. I hate ‘em. I could never understand why people limited themselves to fresh starts on only one day of the year. I like to start fresh every day.
I suppose that a year is a meaningful measurement of time to most. It is something we embrace as coming full circle (around the sun, that is). It marks a completeness of time by which we measure our lives.
Internet marketers should be marching to the beat of a different drum, though. Why wait for the earth to complete its trek around the sun when we can just start fresh each time the earth spins on its axis?
Each day that we live is a complete life of its own. We awaken from the death-like state of sleep and are born into a new world. What will the world today be like? Will it be a good day or a bad day? How long before I lose this day and saunter off into another death-like state?
Each moment of each day is important. How we use THIS moment will most likely determine the quality of life we experience in the following moments. It becomes a very important issue when you consider that each day-life can pass its wisdom on to the next day-life.
I know this must sound a little strange if you’ve never considered these concepts but I assure you that they are very appropriate at this time of the year. This is the traditional time of changing bad habits and adopting good habits.
So, habits are formed by the actions we take each day. The actions we take each day are formed by the decisions we make in moments of conflict. Conflict will be with us as long as we’re alive so it’s best to make the most of conflict.
By encapsulating each day as a lifetime we can look at each moment with the importance it deserves. Most of us trod through life without thinking about each moment. I know that I frequently take moments of my life for granted.
Planning is the best method I know for making the most out of every moment of my life. Planning is also the best method I know for making the most out of my business. Without a plan you are just spinning your wheels and going nowhere.
Resolutions are simply goals we hope we reach. A plan, however, contains a step-by-step method for attaining a goal. The reason most resolutions are dropped within a month is that they rely on unfocused will power instead of easily attainable steps moving us toward a clear and focused goal.
So, reevaluate your resolutions. Dissect them into tiny achievable steps then march your way up that stairway of success to the freedom you deserve. Good luck with your self improvement goals this year and good luck with your business.
