The Beginning of Wealth

Welcome to the world of wealth.

Becoming wealthy begins with your mind, walks the path of your emotions and displays itself through your actions. The truly successful wealth seeker will discipline themselves to shake off whatever thoughts interfere with building wealth and will align themselves with others of like mind.

The strangest thing about this concept is that while it is available to everyone and easy to see when presented, very few people actually walk the path to success. Excuses support their weakened resolve and lack of commitment. They justify to themselves why they are unable to continue. The fact is that they are using the same energy to prove to themselves why they can’t succeed instead of applying that energy to their success.

All my life I heard phrases like, “It’s a question of mind over matter” or “If you can conceive it and believe it you can achieve it” but I never accepted them as valid. I got tired of living the negative life that I had and I challenged myself to an experiment. I began putting those phrases to the test and I found that they work.

Am I rich? It depends upon how you define being rich. With inflationary rates to be a millionaire these days means you need approximately 6 million dollars. I definitely do NOT have 6 million dollars. In 2004 there were approximately 7 million people in the United States who had a net worth of $1,000,000 or more. When you consider our population you can see that one out of every 43 people you pass each day is technically a millionaire.

I am not rich but I am wealthy. The difference is that rich is a subjective term that changes from one person to another. In a world where an American Paperboy makes more money than most of the people on the planet anyone in our country can be defined as rich. Wealth, however, is having more money coming into your bank account than is going out.

Wealth is a concept that can be applied worldwide within any culture. I don’t need to be rich to be wealthy. Those who seem to be rich are really reaching for an unattainable goal. Let’s face it, once they hit that 6 million dollar mark they’ll immediately start looking at a 7 million dollar goal.

More money coming in than is going out allows us to live comfortably while slowly (or perhaps rapidly) growing that wealth into a massive pile of riches. I’ve always found that people who are looking for a “get rich quick scheme” are doomed to a constant state of poverty. It is generally the slow steady pace of the turtle that wins the race.
